Spatial Transformation Seminar Gauteng

This seminar will be focusing on Alexandra and the challenges posed for spatial transformation. Solutions be it short term, medium term or long terms will arise from this seminar. Planners and the built environment community will consider what can be done to effect spatial transformation.

The IDP developed by the local municipality collates the needs of communities and is meant to be an integrated plan for development. The National Spatial Development Framework, the Provincial Spatial Framework and the Metro Spatial Development Framework will be discussed in this seminar.

The IUDF, Integrated Urban Development Framework,  will be considered as a guiding framework to lead the process of spatial transformation. Participants in the seminar will discuss how to reshape the form of the locality with integrated approaches to planning and resources for the spatial form to be adjusted and influenced.

The ongoing discontent in Alexendra is an indication that the spatial form has not been transformed.

This seminar will allow for planners to put planning theories and instruments into practice and take back lessons learnt from the case of Alexandra.
